Taylor’s trip to a pineapple under the sea!
Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana by Karisma is a 5-star gourmet inclusive kid-friendly resort that caters to kids of all ages. I spent a week at Nick recently and had the time of my life! The actual location is on the golden sands of Uvero Alto Beach, just 25 miles north of Punta Cana Airport.
More than TV
Nickelodeon is an American TV channel for children. It’s named after the first 5 cent movie theaters called nickelodeons. You may also recognize the name Nickelodeon for shows like PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and SpongeBob SquarePants. The pineapple suite is actually in the shape of a pineapple and once you enter, everything is recreated to take you to Sponge Bob’s world. Sponge Bob is celebrating 20 years, in June 2019.
Eat Up!
Karisma is known for their food. The resort prides itself in gourmet inclusive. We’ve all been to those places where there’s a restaurant or hotel that focuses on kids and the food is lousy… chicken fingers and hot dogs! (eek!) Well, that’s not the case at Nickelodeon, I talked with their GM and their main concept is to make food that is healthy, delicious and well prepared I’m talking silver tray presentations of wrap sandwiches, tacos, steak, grilled mushrooms, you name it! And on top of it all, it’s food that both kids and adults love to eat.

Happy Surprises
I met the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they taught me some cool ninja moves. I swam in the winding water slides, splash pads, spray grounds, and took in a lazy river ride. But the best part is I received Nickelodeon’s ultimate honor and was slimed!!
Adulting
Now if this sounds overwhelming to couples who simply want a fun getaway, there are private adults-only places like Kitchen 23, enjoy a huge wine selection at Vino Vino and accommodations like the Nest Suites, or private swim-up suites. The Vassa Spa has a package for couples, and if you do have kids, the Just Kidding staff will watch your little ones while you have some one-on-one time with your partner.
The resort features 208 oversized suites filled with comfortable amenities to cater to every taste and need. I loved the glamorous and spacious Swank Suites that feature a private wrap-around terrace that’s a step away from the pool so you can enjoy spontaneous splashing.
If you’re wanting to avoid the kiddo crowds, try October – November for good discounts and less pitter patter.
